Manchester United home shirt for the 2020/21 season was revealed, which was inspired by the club’s DNA that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has restored throughout his reign as manager. Taking influence from the intricacies of the yarn-stitched application onto the shirt, a fine graphic print provides a unique pattern and detailing onto a colour-block background.

After years of losing their identity since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, Man United are truly back with ‘Ole at the wheel’ – and Adidas has produced this Manchester United home jersey which aims to show off this rediscovered DNA.

The shirt – which has been modelled by the likes of Marcus Rashford, Dan James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka – features the traditional all-red base with white trim, as seen on all Man United home kits.

But a unique graphic print adds character to the jersey, which also has the club’s name subtly woven into it.

A statement announcing the launch of the shirt read: “The ‘Manchester United DNA’ has been a focus for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team, and the home jersey for the forthcoming 20/21 season aims to encapsulate the DNA of the club, using the threads of the club crest itself to produce a subtly patterned base fabric.

“The name of the club is also proudly engineered into the print, visible through the use of different red tones.”

Man United will wear this Manchester United jersey for the first time on Wednesday evening when they host LASK in the Europa League round-of-16.

“For this season, we researched the values and iconography that connect athlete and fan, and looked to fuse these with modernity and innovation, to create something that connects the people and stands for unity,” said Adidas design director Inigo Turner.

“We pretty quickly landed on the crest as it is the representation of the heart and passion of the club, it is symbolic and iconic across the world. It is significant as the first component added to each design, and one that makes up the threads of the shirt design for the 2020/21 season.”
